The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Approved the Rules for Conducting Laboratory Tests of Milk and Dairy Products in Agri-Food Markets

On December 31, 2024, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered Order No. 4150 of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, dated November 25, 2024 (hereinafter referred to as MAPF’s Order No. 4150).

These Rules aim to improve measures ensuring the proper placing of milk and dairy products on Ukraine’s agri-food markets, specifically:

  • іntroducing requirements for sampling raw milk and dairy products;
  • defining quality and safety indicators for raw milk and dairy products, as well as the frequency of their control;
  • establishing requirements for conducting laboratory tests of raw milk and dairy products derived from it (excluding industrially produced products) that are placed on the market by food business operator’s, including small producers, for final consumers through agri-food markets.

It is important to note that MAPF’s Order No. 4150, dated November 25, 2024, will come into effect on April 29, 2025, while Order No. 49 of the State Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, dated April 20, 2004, “On Approval of the Rules for Veterinary and Sanitary Examination of Milk and Dairy Products and Requirements for Their Sale”, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on May 7, 2004, under No. 579/9178, will be repealed.
