Ukrainian Organic Consultants Took Part in a Study Tour to Poland and Germany
From 15 to 22 June 2025, a study tour to Poland and Germany was held for Ukrainian consultants and specialists in organic production. The tour was organised within the Swiss-Ukrainian programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), in cooperation with the Ukrainian certification body Organic Standard.
The aim of the tour was to enhance the technical expertise of Ukrainian organic consultants and to expand their professional networks. Participants had the opportunity to explore best practices in organic farming in Poland and Germany, as well as to attend the largest industry event in Europe – the Organic Field Days 2025 (Öko-Feldtage) in Germany.
With Swiss support, four Ukrainian consultants in organic production and the organic products market participated in the tour. Farmers and agronomists interested in implementing new technologies on their farms and exchanging experiences with EU colleagues participated in the tour as well.
The programme of the study tour included visits to a number of leading scientific, advisory, and production institutions. In Poland, participants visited Radom office of the Agricultural Advisory Centre in Brwinów, Radom Branch (CDR), and learned about the specific features of Polish agriculture and the country’s advisory system. They also visited the State Research Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG) and several organic farms. The Polish part of the tour concluded with a visit to the berry farm Borówkowy Gaj.
In Germany, the delegation attended the Organic Field Days 2025 held near Leipzig city. The event brought together hundreds of farmers, consultants, scientists, machinery producers, and agri-innovation providers from across Europe. Ukrainian participants explored the latest solutions for organic crop production, visited demonstration plots, and attended machinery presentations. The strong involvement of young people in the event was particularly noteworthy, highlighting the promising future of the organic sector.
In addition to participating in the industry event, the consultants visited two German organic farms: Hofgut Pulsitz in the municipality of Ostrau and Hof Mahlitzsch in the town of Nossen. Both are mixed farms that successfully combine crop production, animal husbandry, processing, and direct sales.
The study tour marked an important milestone in the professional development of Ukrainian organic consultants and specialists. Upon their return, the participants will share the knowledge gained with other experts and businesses in Ukraine, contributing to the further adoption of modern organic practices in line with European standards. Moreover, the participants established new contacts with enterprises in Germany and Poland, opening up additional opportunities for future partnerships.
The study tour was organised in cooperation with Organic Standard with the support of Switzerland within the framework Swiss-Ukrainian Programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland).
