Field Forum “Organic Solutions that Work” Brings Together Specialists from Across Ukraine at Agroecology PE

On 8 July 2025, the Centre for Organic Farming at Agroecology PE (Poltava region) hosted the field forum “Organic Solutions that Work”, dedicated to organic crop production technologies. The event brought together over 80 participants, including agronomists, managers of agricultural enterprises, consultants, and agri-experts – all united by a shared interest in exchanging knowledge and experience on organic farming practices and technologies. Particular focus was placed on modern approaches and innovative solutions related to plant nutrition, soil management, crop care and other aspects of organic agriculture.

The event was organised by the Organic Standard certification body and Agroecology PE with the support from Switzerland and the German Government. The event was held in partnership with BTU Biotech Company

The main objective of the event was to provide participants with practical insights into key aspects of organic production including moisture retention, plant nutrition, weed, pest and disease control. The programme also featured demonstrations of machinery, biological products and seeds that are effectively used on the Agroecology enterprise. In addition, the forum served as a valuable networking platform, facilitating connections between farmers, consultants and solution providers.

Participants visited four demonstration sites, where they had the opportunity to observe agricultural machinery in action and examine fields of soybeans, maize, flax, sunflower, buckwheat, spelt, and barley intercropped with alfalfa.

The second part of the forum featured a series of expert presentations and a panel discussion. Leading agricultural specialists delivered talks on agrotechnologies for organic crop production in the context of climate change and biologisation of crop production.

The closing session of the forum was a panel discussion on “Organic Production: Solutions that Work”, moderated by Sergiy Galashevskyy, General Manager of the Organic Standard certification body. The discussion brought together representatives of agribusinesses, organic producers, and service providers.

The event proved to be an effective platform for sharing experiences, establishing new contacts, and identifying practical solutions for the sustainable development of organic agriculture in Ukraine.

The forum was organised by Organic Standard certification body in partnership with Agroecology PE with the support from Switzerland within the Swiss-Ukrainian Programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland), and the German-Ukrainian Сooperation in Organic Agriculture project (COA) with financial support from the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL).
