Business Mission of Ukrainian Organic Fruit and Berry Processing Companies to the Netherlands

From 20 to 23 May 2025, a business mission to the Kingdom of the Netherlands will take place for Ukrainian organic fruit and berry processing companies and business support organisations. The trip is organised by the Ukrainian Berries Association in cooperation with the State Institution “Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office” and the Organic Initiative Public Union, with support from Switzerland, in particular through the Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine Programme (QFTP). 

The aim of the business tour is to familiarise Ukrainian companies with advanced technologies for the storage, logistics, and processing of organic products through visits to leading Dutch companies, as well as to establish new business contacts and explore export opportunities. 

The business tour programme includes: 

  • – Attending the World of Private Label International Trade Show (PLMA) (20–21 May, Amsterdam, the Netherlands); 
  • – Business visits to leading Dutch companies, including a berry cooperative, a deep berry processing enterprise, an importing company, a retail chain, and a business association; 
  • – B2B meetings with potential partners. 

Prior to the mission, participants received preparatory training on participating in international trade fairs and negotiating with foreign companies. 

10 small and medium-sized enterprises from 7 regions of Ukraine that export organic berry products were competitively selected to take part in the business mission:

In addition to the exporters of organic berry products, the delegation includes 6 representatives from 3 business support organisations – the Ukrainian Berries Association, the State Institution “Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office”, and the Organic Initiative Public Union as well as representatives from the QFTP and SIPPO technical assistance programmes. 

Background: Ukraine–Netherlands trade 

The Netherlands has remained the top importer of organic products from Ukraine for many years. According to a 2023 study of Ukraine’s organic market, Ukraine exported 68,100 tonnes of organic products to the Netherlands worth 34.3 million euro. This included 490 tonnes of organic berries (frozen, fresh, and pureed) worth approximately 1.4 million euro. Organic berries exported from Ukraine to the Netherlands include bilberries, blackberries, blackthorn, blueberries, cranberries, elderberries, raspberries, and strawberries. In 2024, exports of organic berries from Ukraine to the Netherlands amounted to 462 tonnes worth around 794,000 euro (source: Organic Standard).
