On 14 May 2024, an online training “Frequently Asked Questions on the Requirements of the Organic Legislation of Ukraine” was held to raise awareness of the legislation on the basic principles and requirements for organic production, circulation and labelling of organic products.
The event was attended by more than 200 participants, including market operators, state inspectors of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, representatives of NGOs, advisory bodies and other stakeholders.
Participants were welcomed by Oleg Osiyan, First Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection; Maryna Kyslytska, Head of the State Policy Division on Organic Production, Food Security and Excise Products Directorate of the Department of State Policy on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine; and Natalie Prokopchuk, Organic Component Coordinator of the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine”.
At the event, which was organised at the request of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in partnership with the Organic Standard certification body and with the support of Switzerland within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), presented the publication “Frequently Asked Questions on Organic Legislation of Ukraine”, which contains important information that provides comprehensive answers to the most urgent questions about the Law of Ukraine “On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation and Labelling of Organic Products”, which are of concern to operators and other organic market participants.
Participants received detailed answers to important questions about the requirements of the legislation on the production, circulation and labelling of organic products in Ukraine in a convenient question-and-answer format (FAQ) thanks to the experts: Yuriy Ohlashennyy, Senior National Long-term Advisor Organic Component, QFTP; Olena Manziuk, Deputy Head of Certification Department, Senior Certification Specialist, Organic Standard Certification Body; Vasyl Shukalovych, Senior Certification Specialist, Organic Standard Certification Body; Yuliia Movchan, Expert at QFTP , developer of organic legislation.
The active participation of the training participants and many questions raised indicated the relevance and usefulness of this training and the need to support sector players in the process of implementing the Law of Ukraine “On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation and Labelling of Organic Products” in their activities.
