Winners Announced for the Grant Programme in the Organic Sector Supported by Switzerland
The organic operators who will receive grants for implementing their projects in Ukraine’s organic sector have been announced. The announcement for the grant programme competition was made in October 2024, and as of 10 December, 33 companies have been selected to carry out their grant projects in 2025. The grant programme is funded by Switzerland within the framework of the Women Entrepreneurship in the Organic Sector (WEOS) project and the Swiss-Ukrainian programme Higher Value-Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector of Ukraine (QFTP).
The grant programme aims to support Ukrainian organic producers and further develop the organic market by increasing the trade of higher value-added products in Ukraine’s domestic market.
A total of 40 applications were submitted, of which 33 grant projects will be supported, amounting to approximately CHF 160,000. All grant-funded projects will be implemented in 13 regions of Ukraine, including frontline areas.
Particular attention was given to grant projects led or owned by women, resulting in 18 such initiatives receiving support. Additionally, one project will be implemented by an internally displaced person.
Expected outcomes of the grant-funded projects include the entry of at least 5 organic operators into the domestic market who previously focused on exports or operated through intermediaries. Furthermore, 7 new higher value-added organic products will be introduced, and 6 new organic production and distribution chains will be established, including the opening of new shops and sales points.
The support will also help more than 15 operators to improve products quality and their storage, enhancing the availability of organic goods in the domestic market.
