The State Service of Ukraine on Food Security and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) along with its laboratories involved in the Raw Milk Control Program based on the SSUFSCP’s “Milk Module” information and communication system have received the aid totally worth CHF 146,500 under the assistance of Switzerland within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP) which has been realised by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in the partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland).
The aid application process was announced on May 9, 2023 through a post on the SSUFSCP and QFTP official site, indicating a detailed information regarding the application time frame, acceptance criteria, types of activity to be supported, as well as the procedure for choosing the applications priority. The application process deadline was May 19, 2023 (6:00 p.m. Kyiv local time).
In general, 30 applications came from 30 publicly owned laboratories (19 regional and 11 interdistrict ones).
All applications were thoroughly reviewed by the Committee comprised of representatives from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, SSUFSCP and Community Council at the SSUFSCP, according to the acceptance criteria. They were prioritized and agreed in the form of list containing potential aid recipients.
Therefore, the material and technical facilities of 22 publicly owned SSUFSCP laboratories (17 regional and 5 interdistrict ones) have added up 11 milk somatic cell counters, 10 laboratory shakers to determine general bacteriological pollution, 5 cryoscopes to determine freezing point of raw milk, and 13 universal temperature regulated chambers to thermally control test aimed at identifying inhibiting agents in raw milk. Also consumables were procured to hold tests of raw milk samples that are used in the operation with the above-mentioned tools. This will enable laboratories to make the raw milk samples research process automatic for indicators regulated by law and inspected by the state.
