In October 2022, the topic of consumption of organic products was integrated into the “Znaimo” portal, which was developed as part of the School Food Reform in Ukraine initiated by the First Lady Olena Zelenska. “Znaimo” aims to provide access to reliable information about balanced meals and healthy habits for those who want to eat healthy and want to know where to start.

We encourage you to read the first three articles on the “Znaimo” portal about nutrition with organic products:

The articles were elaborated by the Ukrainian stakeholder platform “Organic Initiative” with the support of Switzerland within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland). The articles were approved by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

We would like to remind you that in 2021, the Organic Initiative began preparations for the implementation of a pilot project to introduce organic food in canteens of schools and kindergartens as part of School Food Reform in Ukraine as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. This is a completely new approach for Ukraine to develop the domestic organic market and provide access to organic products for a wider population but international experience has already demonstrated its effectiveness . Unfortunately, implementation of the pilot project has been postponed due to the full-scale war in the country. And you can get acquainted with the results of the survey on the current situation with public procurement of food products for schools/kindergartens (SWOT analysis) for the introduction of organic food products in the menu of schools/kindergartens of Ukraine (as of February 23, 2022; available only in Ukrainian), conducted by the Organic Initiative, on the website Organic initiative in the “Previous projects” section, https://organicinitiative.org.ua/our-works/
