To mark World Farmed Animals Day, the international forum “Animal Welfare – Ukraine 2026: From Commitments to Action”, featuring international experts, will take place on 29 September and 2 October 2026.
Animal welfare is an integral part of responsible and sustainable livestock production. Ensuring high standards of animal welfare is important not only from an ethical perspective, but also for maintaining animal health, improving product quality and safety, facilitating international trade, and strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian producers.
For Ukraine, implementing modern animal welfare requirements is also an important part of European integration and of fulfilling its commitments to align national legislation and practices with EU rules.
The Forum aims to support Ukraine’s transition from legislative harmonisation to the effective implementation of EU rules on farmed animal welfare. It will provide an opportunity to review progress under the Roadmap for Ensuring the Implementation of EU Animal Welfare Legislation in Ukraine for 2025–2027, exchanging practicalexperience and approaches, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue, and identifying outstanding needs and opportunities for coordinated support from international development partners.
