On 29 May, the Field Forum 2026, “Cultivation of Organic Rapeseed and Millet,” took place at the organic Private Enterprise “Agroecology” in the Myrhorod district of the Poltava region.
The Forum brought together organic producers, participants considering the implementation of organic technologies and practices on their farms, agronomists, experts, and representatives from business and international organisations to discuss practical approaches to growing organic crops amidst current challenges. The event focused on practical knowledge exchange and the demonstration of technologies directly in the field where producers could assess their effectiveness under real conditions, ask experts questions, and see the results of applying various agronomic approaches in practice.
The event was organised by Agroecology PE in partnership with Organic Standard LLC, with the support of Switzerland within the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian Programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP), the “German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue” (APD Ukraine) project, as well as business partners.
Field forums have become an important platform for professional experience exchange, partnership development, and communication among participants in the organic sector. It is precisely such events that help farmers familiarise themselves with innovative approaches, implement effective technologies, evaluate their economic viability, and make informed production decisions.
Opening the forum, Glib Lukianenko, Director of PE “Agroecology”, emphasised the importance of developing organic production and exchanging practical experience among producers. Igor Kravchenko, Local Program Manager of QFTP Programme, highlighted the significance of supporting Ukraine’s organic sector through the development of professional knowledge, experience exchange, creating access to innovative solutions, and expanding market opportunities for producers.
Forum participants visited demonstration fields of organic rapeseed and millet, familiarising themselves with crop cultivation practices, plant nutrition systems, approaches to increasing crop resilience against stress factors, as well as modern technical and biological solutions for organic production. The demonstration of fields and crop cultivation technologies was conducted by Serhii Kozin, Chief Agronomist of PE “Agroecology”, and Maksym Boiko, Agronomist of PE “Agroecology”, who shared their own practical experience in growing organic rapeseed and millet.
As part of the field demonstrations, a presentation of agricultural machinery and biological solutions for organic production also took place. Representatives of partner companies presented their biological products directly on the demonstration fields and showcased the results of their practical application under organic farming conditions. This format allowed participants to assess the effectiveness of technical and biological solutions in real field conditions and discuss the specifics of their use with practitioners.
A separate session of the event was focused on international experience and prospects for the development of organic production. Nicolas Lefebvre, Senior Agronomist at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland), presented alternative approaches to organic rapeseed cultivation and shared experience gained in European countries.
An important part of the forum was a panel discussion moderated by Sergiy Galashevskyy, General Manager of Organic Standard LLC. The open discussion format allowed participants to ask questions to experts, producers, and market representatives, as well as exchange experiences regarding current challenges in organic production. Special attention was paid to the practical aspects of growing organic rapeseed and millet, organic certification requirements, market prospects for these crops, and opportunities to increase the economic efficiency of organic farms.
The Field Forum 2026 confirmed the high demand among Ukrainian organic producers for practical knowledge, demonstrations of effective technologies, and professional experience exchange. Switzerland’s support through the QFTP programme fosters the development of such platforms for cooperation and the dissemination of innovations, helping Ukrainian producers strengthen their positions in both domestic and international markets.
