During 2025–2026, 33 Ukrainian organic companies — producers and processors — implemented grant projects with the support of Switzerland within the framework of the Women Entrepreneurship in the Organic Sector (WEOS) project and the Swiss-Ukrainian Programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine” (QFTP).
The overall objective of the grant programme was to support Ukrainian organic producers, contribute to the development of the domestic organic market, and increase trade volumes of Ukrainian organic products with higher added value within Ukraine.
In total, 40 applications were submitted to the grant programme, of which 33 projects were selected, with total funding amounting to CHF 160,000. The projects were implemented across 13 regions of Ukraine, including frontline areas. The call for applications was launched in October 2024, and the selected beneficiaries were announced by 10 December 2024.
The grant programme became an important instrument for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the organic sector. Through the grants, companies were able to invest in production modernisation, introduce innovations, expand product ranges, improve product quality, and strengthen processing capacities in line with organic production standards.
Particular attention within the programme was given to supporting women’s entrepreneurship: 18 supported projects are implemented by businesses owned or managed by women. One project implemented by an internally displaced entrepreneur was also supported.
Among the key outcomes of the grant programme are:
- organic operators that had previously focused mainly on exports or sales through intermediaries introduced their products to the domestic market;
- new organic products with higher added value were brought into circulation;
- new production and distribution chains for organic products were established, including through the launch of online stores;
- operators improved product quality and storage conditions, contributing to a stronger presence of organic products on the domestic market.
Importantly, the results of the grant programme reflect real business stories of resilience, adaptation and growth. Despite ongoing challenges, participating companies strengthened their market positions and identified new opportunities for long-term development.
Success stories from selected grant beneficiaries:
These examples demonstrate that even under difficult circumstances, Ukrainian organic businesses continue to grow and identify new opportunities. Consistent support from Switzerland has become an important driver of this progress, helping companies not only remain resilient, but also develop strategically for the future.
